Puppy Obedience & Social hour!

2 - 5 months of age

The most important part of a puppies' first few months is manners and social skills. Your puppy must meet at least 100 different people before 18 weeks of age, in order to be as social as possible! Puppies also need to learn how to communicate with other dogs effectively, in order to prevent dog/dog aggression later on. This is crucial

In our Puppy Obedience/Socialization Class, we focus on all of these aspects, and allow the puppies to interact and learn from each other. We work on all aspects of puppy hood, including: biting, jumping, housebreaking, crate training, etc. If you have a specific problem or challenge that you are concerned about? No problem, we will address it in class.

And of course, we also teach them the basics of walking on leash, sit, down, stay, and much more. Our classes are structured to keep the puppy interested and active, so they are usually pretty tuckered out after class. Every 15 minutes or so, we stop and allow the puppies to play and interact. this keeps them from getting bored, and also burns some energy.

Please don't wait too long to enroll your puppy in a class, the first 18 weeks of their life are crucial to them becoming social, well behaved dogs later on. We can prevent many issues for cropping up later on.

DOG-Tastic Classes

6 months and over, friendly dogs only please for these classes
(if your dog has socialization issues, read further for the most suitable class or call/email)

The DOG-Tastic Group Obedience Class is open to any dog over 6 month of age.

This class is designed for friendly dogs , that have graduated puppy class (either with Bold Canine or at another school) or have no prior schooling. Friendly dogs of any age are welcomed.

This class is designed to teach the dogs self/impulse control, and to aide in increasing their focus/attention span. We work all of the basic commands, but increase the difficulty level to ensure your young canine makes the correct decisions in life! The adolescent dog likes to challenge their parents, and to manipulate your decisions! Your once perfect puppy, all of a sudden is jumping up on people again, looks at you and runs away when you call him/her, grabs inappropriate items and runs around the house... sound familiar? If you are experiencing any of these issues, give us a call, we can definitely help!!

We work on:

Heeling on leash

Getting your dog to focus on you!

Sit/down/stay commands, making them 100% reliable

Come command, we give you real life strategies to ensure a reliable recall, and form a plan, so you always know how to best get your dog to come to you

and many more...

Advanced Classes

This class is for those dogs that have completed DOG-Tastic and want to do more advanced work

The Advanced Group Obedience Class is a continuation of the DOG-Tastic class and is open to any dog that has completed the Bold Canine level 1 class.

We work on off leash techniques in this class, we also do distance work like getting your dog to down and sit at a distance, we teach them to heel off leash, we continue to work on the recall, we increase the difficulty of the stay command, and really try to challenge them with real life situations.

Adult/socialization Classes

The Adult Obedience Class is tailored for adult dogs that have some issues, or that have never attended classes before. It is the perfect class if you have recently adopted a shelter dog or if your dog has developed new habits you would like to fix. This class is ideal for dogs that have issues with other dogs. If your dog growls, lunges, barks, reacts or has shown any inappropriate behavior towards other dogs, this is the class for you. We can fix this issue, all it requires is some work and some time.

Most dogs in this class already know their commands, just chose when and where to do them. This class helps you create a deeper bond with your dog, within a week of class they are listening to you better, their state of mind improves.

This is our specialty, why we got in this business over 10 years ago. We have customers that come from all over Ontario to work with us, other dog trainers, rescues and veterinarians refer Bold Canine as their school of choice for rehabilitation.

The key to teaching your dog how to accept others, is first to calm them down. There is no use making them sit there, if their minds are not calm. The worse thing you can do when your dog is upset or scared is making them sit and stay there, and take it. This only makes them feel more anxious, and in our opinion is cruel to the dogs. We have developed a special technique, which is based on a technique called "cycling" we calm the dog down first, we do not use treats or heavy correction, this is all done using the psychology of the dog's mind. Once you and your dog are calm, then they can learn to sit and allow other dogs to be present. in the first 6 weeks, our expectations are for the dog to walk calmly by another dog without reacting. If they achieve this, then we can think about going one step further and starting to introduce them to friendly dogs. remember, every dog is different and proceeds at their own pace, so the rate of rehabilitation varies from dog to dog.

We have found over the years that dogs that are reactive need to be in a group class with other dogs. this allows them to progress faster, and also gives you the confidence you need to take your dog for walks and outings again.

We always offer a free evaluation, so just give us a call!

Our classes are kept small, and every dog is important to us. No dog will be turned away.

there are 2 instructors per class, to ensure you get as much one on one time as possible.

We are dedicated to you and your dog, we can teach your old dog new tricks!

All dogs welcomed.

Your dog will be trained in just 6 weeks!

Bold Canine is different from any other school out there. Our adult Group Obedience Training sessions are designed specifically to each individual dog - no cookie cutter training here! Although done in a small group setting, each dog and handler learns at their own pace.

We find that most dogs going through our unique program are fully trained in just 6 weeks!

All levels and ages are welcomed.

** No Pre-requisite is required to enroll, all dogs are welcomed**

Weekly Play Group!

Playgroup is a great way to keep your dog well socialized and also burn off some energy! The playgroup is designed for friendly dogs, and is supervised by our expert trainers to ensure a safe and fun hour.

Playgroup is a safe alternative to going to the dog park, dog parks are unsupervised and some dogs shouldn't be there because they are too rough or under-socialized.

Playgroup is only offered to dogs 6 months and over, if you have not been through a Bold Canine class and want to join playgroup, please call to schedule a no charge evaluation. All dogs must be pre-screened prior to joining play group to ensure everyone's safety.

Dogs love our school! Owners always tell us how their dogs get very excited when they pull into our parking lot!!
