The local paper, The Erin Advocate, did a great interview and article on Bold Canine on October 16th!
With the focus of the article being on how Bold Canine provides obedience training services for Erin and the surrounding communities (Hillsburg, Orangeville, Georgetown, Guelph - with clients coming as far away as Brantford, Oshawa, and other areas around the GTA). Additionally, the article highlighted the Bold Canine Pet Services - providing pet walking/sitting to the surrounding communities.
20,000th Visitor October 13th, 2007
We're very pleased to report that at 0732am on Saturday October 13th www.BOLDCANINE.com was graced with our 20,000th vistor (Since July 24th 2005).
The 20,000th visitor came from Richmond Hill Ontario at 0732am, viewed 13 pages over a period on 9 minutes and 37 seconds, and came from a "winzy" search of "Ontario Breeder Shiloh", to which Bold Canine was the first result.
The site now averages about 40 visits a day from all parts of the world. From India to Australia, the visitors come across our pages. With search engine results from Dog Obedience Training, to Shiloh Shepherds, to even Dog Waste Systems (thanks to the Shiloh Septic System web page - you would not believe how many people visit that page!). With the numbers of hits pouring in each day, we expect to hit the 25,000 mark on/or about February 13th, 2008!
Caroline & Gunner Spend Weekend At The Fall Fair

Caroline and Gunner spent the weekend of October 6-8th at the 157th Annual Erin Fall Fair.
With a booth set up highlighting the Bold Canine Obedience & Pet Services, Gunner proved again to be a great conversation starter. And of course Gunner Super-Fan Steve (seen above with Gunner) and Barbara came out to have a visit.
This was the second Erin Fall Fair for Bold Canine and it again proved to be a huge success. Teaming up with Janet of the Erin Pet Depot to create special loot bags for visitors (including the mega popular Bold Canine Jerky - made right here in the Bold Canine Kitchen using only 100% Grade A Canadian Beef!).
Gunner even made his radio debut during a live broadcast with Erin Radio. Caroline was asked to provide some information on Bold Canine, and sure enough, when they saw "the biggest dog they had ever seen" (lol, Gunner) he was asked to give a big bark out on the radio. Sure enough, with a deep breath and a loud rumble, he didn't disappoint! Upon returning to the booth, visitors during the afternoon asked "was that the dog I heard on the radio?" LOL!
Stacia/Gunner '07 Puppies Born Oct. 6th

We're extremely thrilled with the birth of the 2007 Edition of the Stacia/Gunner pairing! Bred by Nancy & Greg of Ocean State Shiloh's in Rhode Island, NY.
The six little ones (4 males, 2 females) began entering the world on the morning of Saturday October 6th at 1045am. By the time the day was over, at 535pm, the last girl had made her way out of the womb and into an awaiting world.
Given the success of the Stacia/Gunner 2006 Edition, we're quite eager to watch these newest members of the Shiloh Shepherd community grow.
OVC Ultrasound Confirms Puppies!

Ultrasound at OVC (Ontario Vet College) confirms that Lola is indeed with Puppies!
A follow-up ultrasound will be perfromed the week of October 15th, along with an X-ray the week before the puppies are due.
Lola Now Officially A Certified Therapy Dog!
Lola and Caroline have been visiting the Avalon Retirement/Nursing Home in Orangeville, bringing smiles to everyone. Lola is a big hit at the home, with many elderly residents joyed with the opportunity for some unconditional love and soft touch that can only come from a dog. Of course Lola just loves all the attention! On July 31st, it became official, and she received her St-John's Therapy Dog uniform. Stay tuned for photos of Lola in her new "job" to be posted.
Gunner Gets A Special Visit

Gunner Uber-Fan, Steve Strand and Barbara came by for a visit a short time ago. Steve, has been a very special friend of Gunner's siunce they first met two years back. Steve and Barbara have gone WAY out of their way to travel from Lindsay Ontario to not only our home, but to shows and events as far away as Tillsonburg!
For Gunner to have such wonderful friends, is truly further affirmation that we are very lucky to have such a loved dog as part of our family.
Steve and Barbara have been very patiently waiting for the Lola/Gunner pairing, and we can't wait for them to be official part of the Bold Canine family with one of our offspring.

Caroline was out having fun with the Upper Credit Humane Society, helping raise money and honouring Trooper (top picture on right). In lower picture, from left, Lorraine, Faith, and Caroline.
Jade (Lola/Gunner 2006) Wins Best in Breed Puppy @ Specialty!

We're extremely please to report that Jade (Gunner/Lola '06) was awarded the Best In Breed Puppy placement at the RBCSWO Shiloh Shpeherd Specialty in Woodstock! Owned by Al and Joanne, it was a huge thrill for us to watch our progeny in the ring. And even more fun to see Al and Joanne out enjoying a fun weekend with their special family member, and the rest of the Canadian Shiloh Shepherd community.
The Erin "Bark Yard" Is Now Open!

On Saturday July 7th, "The Bark Yard", Erin's only off leash area, held it's Grand Opening. We had over 80 people come through with their dogs, and the day went without a hitch! All the dogs were well mannered and friendly, of course we were there to help explain dog behavior and supervise.
The Bark Yard was created by Caroline and Janet without any funding or assistance from the municipality - and is part of Caroline's commitment to giving back to the community that has been so great to us. The purpose is to provide a fun, friendly, leash free are for residence of Erin and surrounding communities to spend some outdoor time with their fur kids.
Erin Radio was there all afternoon broadcasting on-air live from the location. Both Caroline & Janet (of the Erin Pet Depot) did a number of interviews ansawering questions about the Park, Shiloh Shepherds, Training, and Janet's store.
Come meet us every Thursday (Until September 29th - Re-opening in Spring 2008), from 6-7pm for our Doggy Social Hour. Friendly dogs only please, come play and learn about your canine's body language and communication skills!
Stay Tuned for the Erin Leash Free Park!

From Left: Caroline, Gunner, Janet, & Shea
Brought to you by:
The Erin Pet Depot/Whiskers & Paws Catering & Bold Canine
Yes! Erin is getting it's own leash free area.
For the past month, Janet (owner of the Erin Pet Depot and Whiskers & Paws Catering), Dave, and Caroline (owner of Bold Canine) have been working hard getting the fencing up and preparing the field. The park should be ready in the next few weeks! The leash free area is located next the the Erin Pet Depot, 8 Thompson Crescent, in Erin.
This is also where we hold our Bold Canine Dog Classes and Dog Club!
Gunner Named 2006 TD and NS
Bold Canine Shiloh Shepherds and Obedience is extremely happy to report that again Gunner (Miracle's Silver Bullet) was named a Top Dog with the registry (NSBR), and a National Select with the Shiloh Shepherd breed club (ISSDC)! With these two additional titles on his name, Gunner will now go into "semi-retirement" from the show ring. Having achieved everything we could have dreamed of, it's time to let the younger dogs fight it out for the king of the ring title.
Gunner will still be out at all the shows, and will participate from time to time. We will likely begin to focus on his working titles, proving that he's not just another pretty faced runway model!
Aly Earns Her Temperament Test Certification
On Saturday June 9th Aly earned passing scores with the RBPCO to be awarded her Temperament Test Certification. The test invovles the dog going thru a variety of scenerios, without correction or guidance from the handler (in this case Dave), and see how they react. The first situation was a stranger approaching Dave and shaking his hand. Next, a group of 8 people closed in on Dave and Aly. Third, Aly had to investigate a bowl with noises in in. Fourth involved gun shots from a starter pistol. Fifth was an opening umbrella aimed at startling her. Sixth involved Aly crossing downed fencing. And finally a drunken/obnoxious man with a stick making loud noises jumped out from behind and car and approached us. Aly did just great we are very pleased with her accomplishment.
Chain/Lola 2007 Litter Enters the World!

On Thursday May 17th Baby "Cubs", from the Chain/Lola pairing, entered the world. Scaling in at a whopping 1 pound 9 ounces!
Although we are disappointed that we only had one puppy from this litter and couldnt fully meet the overwhelming demand for this pairing (it would appear that a couple on the early ultrasound were reabsorbed), we're thrilled with this special little guy's energy and health. Baby "Cubs" will be heading to his new family in Windsor Ontario on July 14th, 2007.
Bold Canine Passes 15,000 Visitors
On Wednesday May 16th 2007 Bold Canine Shiloh Shepherds and Obedience had our 15,000th visitor to the site! We're thrilled that Bold Canine has become a popular spot on the internet for information on Dog and Puppy Obedience Training and Pet Services in Erin and surrounding communities (Orangeville, Guelph, Georgetown, Brampton, Hillsburg) and of course on the majestic Shiloh Shepherd dog.
Since we began tracking our visits in July of 2005, over 15,000 visitors from all parts of the globe have found there way here to learn about us, our dogs, breeding program, and canine services.
Thanks to very detailed visitor information gathered, we're able to see just how close or far away some folks are visiting from. Of course, being located just north of Toronto in Ontario, a majority of our visitors are from the southern Ontario area, or are fellow country men and women in Canada. Outside of that, many American visitors find there way here to learn more about our Shiloh Shepherd program. And even further from the United States, we've had visits from locations around the world covering every continent.
With our services and Shiloh Shepherd information growing in popularity we are now averaging approximately 7,000 page views per month, and nearing top search engine placements on many of our services. We hope to continue to be able to reach out locally, and abroad, to continue to share what we have to offer.
We anticipate being able to celebrate our 20,000th visitor by the third quarter of 2007. The only question is where in the world that visit may come from! Perhaps a contest needs to be in order? Stay tuned.
Aly Earns Herding Instinct Certificate!

What a blast we had with the RBPCO (Rare Breed Performance Club of Ontario) on Sunday May 6th, as Aly was entered in their Herding Instinct Test. Talk about fun! Within seconds Aly's naturing herding instict kicked in and it was off to the races rounding up some sheep in Baxter, Ontario.
Under the watchful eye of the instructor, Aly passed with flying colours and was given some very kind compliments on her potential for completing other levels of Herding competition. Hopefully to follow in Aly's mother's footstep (Faith - who has her Junior Herding Dog Title!).
Aly will not bear the suffix HIC to her formal title, and joins her housemate Gunner as Team Bold Canine members with their HIC certification. In either the fall or the spring of 2008 Lola will be taken to have a go at the Herding.
Aly's next "working"/"obedience" titles are to try for her CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) and for her TD (Therapy Dog) with St. Johns Ambulance in the fall (just like her housemate Lola).
The S3 Is Here
What is the S3? Check it Out. The Shiloh Septic System.
Lola Due May 17th!!
The Lola/Chain pups are almost here! Lola is due sometime between May 16th and May 17th. An x-ray is scheduled for this Friday to help confirm the numbers expected. Caroline was able to feel the puppies moving in Lola's belly on Friday, so we're getting close now.
Bring on the Puppies!

Proud "To-Be-Papa" Chain Is All Smiles Over The News!
Ultra sound confirms Lola is indeed with puppies! With the proceedure performed on Day-28, and with Lola's spleen getting in the way, it was difficult to get an exact count however the Vet was certain that the breeding with Vision's Chain of Command ("Chain") took!
This breeding pairs an absolutely georgous mature, smooth coated male, Chain with our plush coated female Lola. We expect great conformation, soft temperments, and dark pigment with this pairing. Stay tuned for more details! The whelping room is again being set up the for arrival. The X-ray will be in three weeks.
Ultrasound Set for Tuesday April 10th ...
What will the puppy stork bring us this time? With the ultra sound set for Tuesday April 10th, we'll know what the Lola/Chain pairing will be bringing to the Shiloh world. All indications with Lola is that she is indeed "with pup(s)" and the Ultrasound will give us a better understanding of just how many.
Emails will be sent immediately on Tuesday night and this site (and the Blog) updated with the exciting result!
And Now We Wait...
With the "meeting" of Lola and Chain now complete, it's in the hands of the puppy gods. In just a few short weeks we should have ultrasound results indicating how the breeding went.
Toronto Sportsmen Show 2007 Recap

The 2007 RBCSWO Show season has officially begun, and Team Bold Canine had a great time with close friends and incredible Shilohs on the weekend of March 17-18, 2007.
The Bold Canine Shiloh Shepherd Team had good ring success this weekend, which was highlighted by another Best In Show Win for Gunner, and Aly's first two Reserve Best in Show Puppy Wins (plus 3x Winners Bitch, 1x Best of Winners, 3x Best of Breed Puppy, 2x Group 1st, and 1x Group 2nd).
This will be Gunner's final year on a full-time basis in the ring (next year he'll be able to kick back, enjoy the BBQs, and watch the rest of the truly incredible Shilohs in Canada strut their stuff and hope to woo the judges).
One of the highlights for us this weekend was Caroline having the honor to be able to take our own Lola's first progeny, Jade, into the ring. To us, there could have been no greater thrill or pleasure than to be able to watch her have fun following in her Father and Mother's successful footsteps in the ring.
Owned by Al and Joanne, this little girl stole the hearts of so many visitors to the show, and won her Class (3-6 month) on Sunday! Talk about ending the weekend on such a great memory for us.
As always, a very special thank you to our friend Edgar Rojas who has created such a great bond with our fur kids and has helped them achieve their full potential in the ring. And a very big congratulation to the recent opening of Edgar's new store in Guelph Ontario - First Choice Pet Emporium! Stay tuned for more details.
Gunner Earns 2006 RBCSWO Awards

For the second year in a row, Gunner has been named 2006 Top Shiloh Shepherd Plush by the RBCSWO. In addition, Gunner took First Place in the Herding Group rankings (the Herding Group represents the largest number of entries within the RBCSWO and includes White Shepherds, Panda Shepherds, Mini Aussies, etc). Gunner also ranked 4th Overall in the Top Dog Standings, a mere 1 point out of third, and just 50 out of first (we'll try and correct that in 2007).
2007 will represent Gunner's final "full-time" presence in the show ring and will enter "semi-retirement" after this season, appearing for select shows only.
